Our Opportunities

At the Thrive Hub, we offer training, support, meaningful work experience opportunities and day services for young adults with SEND. Our aim is to help every individual build confidence, develop life skills and enjoy activities that make each day purposeful and rewarding.

Our sessions provide a warm, inclusive and engaging experience centred on wellbeing, confidence and fun. Alongside this, we deliver pet therapy sessions in schools, colleges, care homes and hospices, extending our positive impact across the community.

A Day at The Thrive Hub

09:30 – Meet at The Thrive Hub Centre
The day begins with a warm welcome, a light breakfast and a chance to catch up with friends before we head out for the morning’s activities.

09:45 – 12:00 – Fit Paws Dog Services
We partner with Fit Paws Dog Services to walk and care for a group of friendly dogs who can’t wait to see us! Our young adults will enjoy gentle exercise, fresh air and plenty of wagging tails while learning responsibility and building confidence. After returning the dogs home for a well-earned rest, we reflect on how our work contributes to animal welfare and education within the community.

12:00 – 12:30 – Lunch at the Centre
A relaxed lunchtime where everyone can unwind, share stories from the morning and prepare for the afternoon’s activities.

12:45 – 14:30 – Exercise, Sport and Enrichment
Afternoons focus on exercise, sport and enrichment activities, all adapted to individual needs and interests. Some days we stay local with inclusive games and light fitness sessions, while other days we head out for day trips to the cinema, bowling, or skating, or enjoy baking and creative sessions at the centre.

14:30 – Pet Therapy and Reset Time
We finish the day with some peaceful pet therapy alongside our two miniature dachshunds, Lottie and Winnie. Their gentle and affectionate nature makes them the perfect companions for a calm, relaxed end to the day.

Community Outreach and Education

Our students and staff play an active role in the local community, visiting schools, hospices and care homes to share meaningful experiences with others. These visits provide invaluable opportunities for students to build confidence, develop communication and interaction skills, and engage in real world professional environments.

Sammy, a registered pet therapy handler, leads the sessions as students accompany us on visits, witnessing first hand the joy, comfort and connection our wonderful dogs bring to others and the positive impact this has on their own wellbeing and growth.
